About Copper Edge

Our name is drawn from the spectacular sandstone escarpment known as "The Edge", from which people have kept watch over the Cheshire Plain for at least 12,000 years. This is a landscape defined by what lies beneath. From Bronze Age copper mines, Roman plumbum seams, to the cobalt lodes of the Napoleonic Wars, the wealth of the earth has always drawn the ambitious to this ridge.

It is a place of deep-rooted myth. The labyrinthine tunnels below the Edge famously inspired Alan Garner’s The Weirdstone of Brisingamen, weaving legends of a sleeping king and his hundred white horses into the very fabric of the rock. At Alderley Edge, the line between the historical and the otherworldly has always been porous.

Our place’s story began during the English Civil War. Originally a traditional farmstead, our walls have witnessed the area’s evolution: from the arrival of the railway in 1842 and the grand 'Villas' of Manchester’s industrial elite, to the refined luxury enclave it is today.

We aren't just located here; we are part of this continuity. We hope you find the same inspiration in the picturesque views and the secrets beneath them, just as we do.

The cottage was beautifully homely, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. It truly felt like a home away from home. Louise and James were exceptional five-star hosts providing fantastic recommendations that made our stay even more enjoyable...

10/10. Amazing accommodation and amazing host! Fabulous location, peaceful but within a short reach of lots of walks, shops, restaurants, etc. The cottage was amazing - spotlessly clean, high quality fixtures, fittings and furniture. Very comfortable bed. Lots of nice touches and good quality products provided.
